Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack

This is just a reminder for my local stampers that registration for the Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack closes on December 2nd.  The class will be held at 6:30PM on Wednesday, December 7th and costs $12.  I am limiting the class to 12 participants, so please let me know soon if you're coming so I can save your spot.  :)

Cocoa Sliders

I wanted to share what I've been doing for the past week.  At one of my craft fairs, I received a large order for one of the items, my cocoa sliders.  These make great gifts for co-workers, friends, and clients.  It's a nice way to acknowledge people during the holiday season.  Just pull the ribbon and the hot chocolate packet slides out of it's cute little cover.

I used Crumb Cake, Real Red, Very Vanilla, and Early Espresso cardstocks, Real Red ribbon, and stamped using the Morning Cup and Snow Swirled sets.  *Note:  I took this outside to photograph it to get some natural light, but here in Oregon, winter is the rainy season, so before I could capture the image, I had big water droplets hit the project.  Just disregard those please.  lol*

My Top 5 List!

I stayed up late to see what items would be included in the big sale.  There are 2 items on sale for 24 hours only.... the Simply Scored tool, which would be a great addition to any craft room, and the Cookie Stamps for those of you who love to bake.  (And here's an insider secret... there will be new covers with different images for those cookie stamps coming early next year.)

Then there are the other items.  The sale ranges from 20-60% off.  There are lots of great things, but I thought I'd just share my TOP 5 LIST.  These are the ones I'll be adding to my order!

1.  Ribbon Bundle (item 129035)  $22.26
I love the scalloped dots ribbon and this way I can get four rolls in colors I love (black, chocolate chip, old olive, and cherry cobbler.)

2.  Glimmer Brads Bundle (item 129034) $10.40
I love the sparkle of these brads and here's a way to get 3 color assortments (basics, brights, and subtles) for a low price.  Not only will these look great on my holiday cards, but on other projects throughout the year.

3.  Winter Post stamp set (item 111780) $13.48
I was excited to see this set included in the sale since it's one I've always wanted to purchase.  I love the vintage feel, plus that "post card" stamp could be used year round.
4.  On Your Birthday stamp set (item 111664) $16.98
This is a versatile set that I've loved for a while, but never managed to purchase because the normal price is $33.95.  Now I can afford to splurge and get it while it's such a good deal.
5.  Perfect Punches stamp set (item 120516) $10.77
This stamp set is great because it coordinates with punches so you can easily stamp, punch, and add greetings to your project.  At less than $11, this sale makes it a steal!
These are just my personal favorites.  Take some time to look through the lists and see what things you love most.  You can place your order online or call me (if you're local) and I'll place the order for you.  I'll be ordering at 9 PM pacific time on Monday, November 26, 2011.  (Obviously, if you're ordering the 24-hour items, you won't want to wait until the 26th.)  If I've received your order by that time, I'll combine all the orders to save on shipping.  Also, if you're ordering online, remember that orders over $50 quality for my shipping rebate which will help you save even more.

As you're shopping, please note the the item numbers of the sale items are different than their non-sale counterparts.  Be sure to add the item to your cart while looking at the Holiday Extravaganza section to get the correct price.  If the price in the cart seems like the regular price, then the wrong item number has been added.  And finally, when I logged on early this morning, I only saw the original prices listed until I added the items to my cart.  Hopefully, Stampin' Up will fix this glitch before most of you are awake.  :)

Happy Shopping!

Mark your Calendars!

I'm a bargain shopper and I love sales.  Each year I anxiously await Black Friday in hopes of finding some really great deals.  Imagine my excitement when I found out that Stampin' Up is having a sale this year before Thanksgiving!  When I logged onto my Stampin' Up demonstrator account today I saw this:

Online Extravaganza, our sale to kick off the holiday shopping season, will begin Monday, November 21, 2011, and run through Wednesday, November 30, 2011.
Log in to your Online Store on Monday, November 21, to take advantage of great savings, like FREE digital downloads valued at $40 when you buy My Digital Studio Express, 60 percent off select Designer Fabrics, and 30 percent off an exclusive ribbon bundle!
In addition, there will be two items on sale for 24 hours only (November 21, 12:01 AM - 11:59 PM [MT])-so make sure you and your customers don't miss the first 24 hours of Online Extravaganza!

I'm excited and hope you are too.  Last year I remember buying a big bundle of ribbon at this sale.  I bought so much at the discounted price that I'm still using it!  lol

***Note for my local customers and others on the West Coast....This sale begins at 12:01AM MT, so that means it begins for us on SUNDAY night at 11:01PM pacific time.  I love this since we won't have to wake up early on Monday.  Woo Hoo!***

I love this card because it's so versatile.  It has a fall theme that would not only be great for Thanksgiving, but just for a general note to someone special.  I also love that circle embossed frame even more now that I bought the plumber's gasket rubber to pad it on the way through my machine.  (For more on that subject, please see my post from October 16th.)

Doggie Treats

At both of my craft fairs I sold decorated bottles of dog treats.  Evidently some dogs just thought they were the best treats ever!  I've received some questions wanting the recipe.  While I did decorate the cute bottles, I used store-bought treats to fill them.  Here are the 2 varieties I included in each bottle.
The smaller bone-shaped treats are the Biscuits with Benefits.  The larger, round treats are made by Old Mother Hubbard.  I purchased both varieties at Petco.  Sorry I don't have a recipe, but I assure you, your dog would probably prefer these to my homemade version anyway.  lol

King's Circle Holiday Bazaar

Margaret & I ready to sell, sell, sell!
Thanks for all who stopped by to see me at the holiday bazaar yesterday.  We had a fun day and the time seemed to fly by!  After the event we went to dinner and then I was just too tired to deal with unpacking the car, so I'll have to do that today.  After I find the entry box, I'll draw to see who won the free stamp-a-stack class and I'll post that information here.

I think this is my friend, Diane, doing some shopping.

Craft Fair Frenzy

My crafting table (which by the way is the same as my dining room table) has been completely covered with paper, inks, and stamps for several weeks as I prepared for 2 craft fairs.  I made it through last week's and had a great time.  Now I'm doing the last minute preparations for tomorrow's event at King's Circle Holiday Bazaar.
I just finished making some skinny note pads.  These are a popular item.  I sell them for $3 or 2/$5 which includes a matching ink pen.  I used the Beau Chateau paper on this one and loved it so much that I decided to keep one of them for myself!  hehe

Another popular item is my paper clip bookmarks.  The Angry Bird & Pig ones please old and young alike!

If you're in the Corvallis, Oregon, area be sure to stop by the event tomorrow from 9am-4pm to say hello.

My Anniversary

Scott & I dressed up in our Hogwarts robes for Halloween
November 10th marks the day I married my best friend.  (Happy Anniversary Scott!)  I've been working hard preparing for craft fairs, newletters, and classes lately, but I'm taking Thursday off.  My husband is going to work a 1/2 day, we're going to spend the afternoon together, then we're going to dinner.  What a nice day!  I promise I'll have more cards and papercrafts on the blog soon, but meanwhile enjoy your Holiday Helper newsletters.

I am going to be sending out 12 Days of Holiday Helper Projects that will not only put you in the holiday mood, but help you enjoy a handcrafted holiday season. With each mailing, you will receive not only a picture of the finished project, but you will also receive a complete supply list with a step-by-step tutorial that shows you exactly how to do the project. But you can only receive these projects by joining my special Holiday Helper mailing list, so be sure to sign up today!  Click the link above to send me an email that you want to be added.  If you already receive my monthly newsletter, you will automatically be added to my Holiday Helper mailings.

Schedule Changes

Today I had to make some schedule changes due to a room conflict at the Chamber of Commerce.  I try to keep my dates set as scheduled, but sometimes things happen that are beyond my control.

This change means that while the Hostess Club will still be meeting on Monday, November 28th, we will be meeting at Peggy's house rather than the Chamber of Commerce.

My Christmas Cards for Beginners class will still be held on Wednesday, November 30th at 6:30PM.

Albany Christian School

I had a great evening at Albany Christian School's Vendor Fair and Bunco Event.  Not only did I meet some nice folks, but I even won one of the bunco prizes!

Thanks to all who visited and shopped at my booth.  If you meant to sign up for my monthly newsletter, but didn't indicate that on the door prize form, please email me at and I'll be happy to add you.

I drew the winning entry for the door prize and I'm pleased to announce that the winner of the free Stamp-A-Stack class is.....
(...insert drumroll sound here....)

Melissa A.

Melissa, I will also send you an email confirmation.

For those of you who didn't win, keep in mind that you may still attend.  The Stamp-a-Stack costs only $12!  You'll make 12 cards which makes it an awesome deal.  If you want to register, please let me know soon.

Free Digital Downloads(Ended 11/7/11)

In celebration of Digital Scrapbooking Day, Stampin' Up is offering some FREE digital downloads.  (I love free, don't you?)  Plus if you have only done traditional scrapbooking and card making in the past, this gives you a good opportunity to try out something new.  I used My Digital Studio just yesterday to create a design element for a legal pad cover.  It's was super fast and the results look professional.  Give it a try!

Here are the details:

  • Digital Scrapbooking Day is today, but Stampin’ Up! will be celebrating today through November 7.
  • Visit the My Digital Studio website to get your free downloads. (You'll be asked to fill out a quick survey first—name, age range, etc.  It's fast and easy.)
  • The downloads will work in My Digital Studio (Stampin’ Up's own digital design software) or in other programs, and are compatible with a Mac or PC.
  • There are four downloads, but they are combined so you’ll receive all four in one grouping.

A tool for the color impaired

I'm not an artist.  I took art as what I thought would be an easy elective in college.  I did so poorly that I made a "C" and lowered my grade point average.  I just don't have the right-brain thinking required to be really creative.  But that doesn't stop me because I love crafting.  I just sometimes need a little help especially when it comes to color.  If it were up to me all my cards would be monochromatic.  It's hard for me to step outside the box and combine colors, but fortunately I have help.

Stampin' Up sells something called a Color Coach.  To me, it's so much better than a regular color wheel because it has all the Stampin' Up colors included.  Today I wanted to make a card and I wanted it to look a bit like fall, so I knew I wanted to something with orange.  I selected Peach Parfait as one of the colors I wanted to use.  Then I looked in my Color Coach to get suggestions for other cardstock colors.

I selected the "Creative Combination" and combined the Peach Parfait with Not Quite Navy and Pear Pizzazz.  Finally I looked in the Idea Book & Catalog to get an idea for a card.  I decided to use Flower Fest (found on pg 124) and there was a card I liked pictured above.  I made some small modifications and created this:
The Color Coach is item 120148 and costs $14.95.  It contains the core Stampin' Up colors.  You can purchase additional cards for the "In Colors."  The 2010-2012 is item 121048 and costs $2.50.  The 2011-2013 is item 124886 and costs $2.50 too.  If you want a complete set of all the current Stampin' Up colors, you'd want to purchase all 3 of the items mentioned above.  The cards are also available in multiple language options.  For less than $20 it's an awesome tool for your paper crafting.
