New Year & New Look

I get tired of things easily which is how I end up coloring my hair different colors throughout the year. I was tired of the old blog theme and wanted a new, fresh look. I wanted something that was clean and uncomplicated so that the cards I post could be the star instead of the blog background. I hope you like the new change!

Here's a hybrid New Year's card I made using the owl punch and My Digital Studio software. I loved being able to have it say just what I wanted. I hate New Year's resolutions, but this year I am resolving to incorporate My Digital Studio into some of my cards and scrapbooking pages. Maybe this will be the first resolution that I am still striving to achieve after the month of January. lol

Happy 2012!

Thank You

As we prepare to say goodbye to 2011, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank my customers for a great year. I know the economy is still struggling and that money is tight in most of our households. You have a choice of where you spend and I am SO thankful for the orders you placed with me during this year. Thank you so much for keeping my business going during such a difficult financial time. I am truly grateful. Best wishes for a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2012!

A Simple Greeting

I usually get a little something to give to my neighbor, Kathleen, each year at Christmas.  We don't exchange gifts per se, but I like to give her a little something.  This year I'm giving her Almond Roca candy, but I dressed it up to be a little more special.  There's still time for you to buy a container of candy and dress it up for someone special in your life!

After:  Much more festive!

Cards from Friends

Many of my friends make their own cards each Christmas.  I thought I'd share them so that my readers could get ideas for their handmade cards.  (Disclaimer:  Not all of these are made with Stampin' Up products.  I am not promoting other products, but rather sharing cards for the purpose of ideas.)

Pauline made this one with fabric and the shimmer brads.

Joyce made this one with the Hand Penned Holiday and the Northern Flurry embossing folder.

June created this one with Scenic Season.

Diane used her Cricut and Cuttlebug to make this one.

Mona used the retired Holy Family and gold embossing powder.

Margaret crafted her santa card from metallic paper and felt.

Phyllis created this card using an embossing folder and (I think) glitter over heat and stick powder.

Stocking Builder Punch

Stampin' Up confirmed yesterday that the Stocking Builder Punch (item 124095) featured in the Holiday Mini Catalog would NOT be carried over to the next catalog.  They didn't mention the coordinating Stitched Stockings stamp set (clear mount item 123784) so I don't know if it will be offered since the punch won't.  Bottom line...If you love it and want it, you should buy it now.  Once the current inventory of the punch is sold out, it will be no longer available for purchase.

More Christmas Cards

It's a little late to be thinking about making Christmas cards to mail, but you can still hand deliver them!  (You can also do as my mother has done for years and just send them late.  lol)   Here are some more of the cards that I sent this year.

Tis the Season for Gift Cards!

We're heading toward the home stretch and Christmas will be here in only one week.  Have you finished all your shopping?  If you are a procrastinator like me, then perhaps you're turning to gift cards for your holiday gift giving.  Gift cards make shopping easy because you can pick them up at the supermarket while you're buying groceries.  The challenge is how to present them.  While you can just drop them into a card, I have some other suggestions.

Last week my hostess club made gift card holders.  We made one for Christmas and then 3 for other occasions.

This one is made from an envelope.  It's super simple to make and I think it's very cute.

Need to give a little "Thank You" gift to someone?  This coffee-themed one can hold either a gift card or a single serve pack of coffee... or both.

Valentine's Day will be here before you know it!  I decided to create this one from non-traditional colors.  I think it's pretty and would be appropriate for either a man or a woman.

Finally, because I have many friends who have January birthdays (me included!,) we made a fun birthday gift card holder.

New Clearance Items

I was excited to see that they added a bunch of new things to the Clearance Rack section of my website.  There are a bunch of punches (circles, squares, tags, etc) in the old style punch for less than $10.  There are also new paper packages & embellishments that have been added.  If you are in the market for these things, don't delay as they will sell out quickly.

In other news, I think I have the flu.  I can't confirm since I think it's been about 35 years since I last experienced it, but last night I felt so bad that I thought I was going to die.  lol  I'm going to keep my distance from everyone until I'm better.  I have shipping rebates to mail, but they will be a little delayed.  The club order deliveries will also be delayed.  I'm sorry for any inconvenience.  Wonder how long it takes for this thing to run it's course?

Recycled Giftwrap

The annual Christmas party for my husband's employer is tonight.  Every year there is a gift exchange and while I have the gift, I haven't purchased any wrapping paper.  Although I usually throw it away, I decided to recycle some brown packing paper that came in my last Stampin' Up order.  I cut it to size and stamped images from Snow Swirled Christmas all over the paper.  Then, since it was already somewhat crinkled, I crinkled it some more, smoothed it out and wrapped the gift.  I decided to use some of the Frostwood Lodge DSP to make a bow and I mostly followed the instructions from Splitcoast Stampers.  I was about to make the gift tag when my husband called and said the company wasn't doing the gift exchange this year.  Hmm.. guess I will just save this for next year.  lol

Christmas Stamp-a-Stack

Last week I held my Christmas card stamp-a-stack event.  The ladies who attended took home 12 handcrafted cards.  The fact that we did all of them in less than 3 hours means that making cards takes just a little more time than selecting a store-bought variety and will mean so much more to the recipients.  This weekend the stress-bug bit me.  I suddenly realized that while I've been busy helping others get ready for Christmas, I've been neglecting my own!  lol  My goal this week is to finish my Christmas cards, decorate & put up the tree.  I'm glad I can stamp some fast & fabulous cards so I can finish in time.  I want to be like the new Target commercial and say, "Done!"

Christmas Cards for Beginners

Last week I held a card class for new stampers.  We made the following 4 Christmas cards.

*On another note:  Registration for the Christmas card stamp-a-stack is now closed.   If you are interested in being on the wait list, please let me know.*

Quick Accents turn into Quick Cards

Don't get me wrong, it's great to make your own Christmas cards by stamping, and cutting, and coloring, and embellishing!  After all much of the year my focus is on creating from scratch.  However, sometimes you just need to make something fast and easy.  More greeting cards are sent at Christmas than at any other time of the year and often our lists of friends and family seem daunting.  These are some cards created using the Quick Accents sticker sheets, designer series paper, ribbon, and rhinestones.  The only stamping on the cards are the greetings, but yet they appear to be made from scratch.

You, too, can make easy cards like these.  With any size order from my website during the month of December, I'll email you a full .pdf with color instructions for creating not only these cards, but also instructions for coordinating gift enclosures and tags.
