Back to Business

I’m happy to be home after our vacation.  I still can’t believe we drove from coast to coast.  I get tired of being in the car just going to the airport, but somehow I managed to tolerate much longer drives this time.  I will say, however, that I’m not planning on driving anywhere any time soon.  lol

Now that I’m back, it’s time to get back to business.  I received my preorder from the new spring catalog, so I’m anxious to start playing with my new stamp sets and accessories.  It might just take me a few days to get back into the swing of stamping something decent enough to share.

Also, getting back to business means I am sending out the shipping rebate checks.  Thanks so much to all of you who ordered while I was away.  Unlike having a “normal” job, Stampin’ Up does not give me paid vacation when I’m away, so it was nice to continue to have a little income while out of town.  I’m mailing the checks today, so be on the lookout for them in the next week or so.

Stampin’ Fun

My stamp club met last night to make K-I-S-S (Keep It Simple Stampin’) Christmas cards.  They made 20 cards in less than 2 hours!  Wow!  Granted these were not fancy cards, but they were still homemade and are much better, and less expensive, than the store-bought variety.

Order Updates

The Online Extravaganza sale was a big hit at Stampin’ Up.  I think this was the best holiday promotion ever!  Lots of us took advantage of the sale and because of that shipping has been delayed.  If you ordered early last week, you may receive your order later this week.  However, some stamp sets sold so well that they are now temporarily on backorder.  They will be shipped as they become available.  The good news is that it looks like the Christmas themed stamp sets will be delivered in plenty of time for you to make your holiday cards.

Make Your Own Bows!

The Stampin’ Up Online Extravaganza ends tomorrow (11/28/12,) but there is still time to take advantage of the Be Of Good Cheer (126896) designer series paper.  In addition to using the paper to create your Christmas cards & scrapbooking pages, you can also use it to make your own bows.

STEP 1: Cut eight 1" x 5-1/2", five bow123
1" x 4-1/2" strips of paper, and a 1"
square of paper.

STEP 2: Punch holes in the ends of
all the strips.

STEP 3: Slightly curl each strip.

STEP 4: Make a loop with one of
the 4-1/2" strips, lining up the holes
and adhering the ends. Make a
teardrop shape with the rest of the
strips, also lining up the holes and
adhering the ends. Let dry.

STEP 5: Pair up the teardrop shapes
by size, lining up the holes, then
adhere them together. Let dry.

STEP 6: Assemble the pieces, layering
and adhering the smaller pieces
over the larger; finish by adhering the
loop in the center. For a more secure bow, put a small brad through all the holes to hold the bow together.

Remember that 1"square you cut out in Step 1? Adhere it to the bottom of the bow to cover the punched holes & the brad.

Sale Update

The big sale has been pretty popular and unfortunately two of the items are going into backorder status.  If you order the Scallop Edge Punch or the Petite Pocket Die, those items will not be shipped until January.  They are still a great deal, but keep in mind they will not be delivered prior to Christmas.

This Snow Much Fun set (#122562, $9.98) is still available and really cute.  You can see all the sale items in the prior post.  If, however, you see things you want, I wouldn’t wait.  I didn’t think a backorder situation would happen on the other items and it did.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Who’s Ready for Christmas?

‘Tis the season!  I apologize for being AFK (away from my computer keyboard) for the past couple of weeks.  I was super busy with a holiday craft fair, as well as my local classes.  My local customers have had an opportunity to get a jump start on their Christmas cards, but I’m sure they still have more to make.  I have some Christmas card ideas to share today, but first I wanted to go over things you might have missed during my absence.

1.  The Free Inkpad promotion is still going strong until December 15th.  You can earn a whole set of ink pads 2 ways:  (1) Sign up as a demonstrator or (2) Have a workshop with $450 in sales.

2.  An Online sale is coming soon.  Beginning on Monday, November 19th and running until November 28th.  I know the deals will be up to 50% off, but I have no idea what will be on sale yet.  There are Doorbusters on the first and last days with items such as the Big Shot and the set of acrylic blocks discounted 20%.  Be sure to log onto my website on Monday to see what deals you can score!

3.  Want to be a demonstrator?  Now would be a good time.  Not only do I have the new Spring catalog and the Sale-a-Bration catalogs in my hand, but demonstrators can begin pre-ordering from those on December 1st.  One of my good friends contacted me about the best time to sign up and when I started looking into finding her the best deal here’s what I discovered:

a.  Sign up as a demonstrator for $99 before December 15th and get a free $49.95 set of ink pads.  Then select $125 worth of merchandise of your choice.  If you signed up the week of the Online sale, you could get more for you $$$ if they offer sale items you want.

b.  Place your first demonstrator order between December 1st and December 15th.  Demonstrators get 30% off their first order over $150, so a $450 order would be only $315!  Preorder items from the new Spring catalog plus items from the other current catalogs.  If you order $450 in merchandise, you’ll get another free set of ink pads.  In addition, you get one Sale-a-Bration item for every $50 spent.. so you get NINE free items from the Sale-a-Bration catalog.  Finally, you would get $65 in Hostess benefits to spend.  Obviously this scenario is for those customer who want to get a lot of supplies at a great discount.  But even a modest order of $150 would still get three free sale-a-bration items and would still get the 30% discount on the first order.

If you’re interested in anything I’ve mentioned, I’m happy to help.

What a great gift idea!  You can use an inexpensive mug from the dollar store or even a thrift store and fancy it up with fabric.  Then add some treats decorated with cardstock.  I’d love to receive something like this.

I love the Greeting Card Kids set and the simplicity of this card.

An easy card when you realize you can cut out all the ornaments at the same time by lining them all up and running them though your cutting machine.  Again.. cute and so easy!

Happy Stampin!

It’s Finally Here!

Drumroll please….

The new Stampin’ Up Trimmer is now available!  We’ve been waiting for this to arrive for a long, long time.  I don’t own it yet, but I’ve heard some good things from other demonstrators who ordered it last month as a preorder.

If you want one, you can order it by clicking here

Happy Halloween!

The big day has finally arrived and I hope you have plans to do something fun this evening.  Here in Oregon it looks like rain, but I think the kids will wear waterproof costumes and go trick-or-treating anyway.  Below you’ll find my final Halloween ideas for this year.  Perhaps they will inspire you to make a last minute card.

I also wanted to thank all of you who took advantage of the big sale on Monday.  Order processing took a little more time, but most have already shipped from the warehouse so you’ll have them soon.

Happy Stampin!

With the 15% off Stamp Spooktacular coming on Monday, October 29th, I thought I’d share the newest release of single stamps.  Many of these coordinate with punches or dies to make them easier to use.  Plus with the extra discount on Monday, they are very friendly to your budget.

    Apple Cider Slider

I wanted a “manly” looking thank you gift for Mike, our air conditioning repairman, so I made this one.  I like the how the black, gray, and more mustard make the card look like fall without looking too much like Halloween.  (I love Halloween, but Mike may not.)  I also like how the designer paper not only has a masculine image, but also matches the cider packet.

I used the Tiny Tags stamp set on the pull tab (sorry, that punch is retired.)  I used Sassy Salutations for my greeting and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch.

I’m going to Portland this weekend for the Scrapbook Expo.  I’m looking forward to seeing some new ideas that I can bring back and share with you all.

    Happy Stampin!

I’ve Got My “EYE” on Halloween Cards!

I am so happy Stampin’ Up is offering the Googly Eyes (Googlies #127539) this year.  I know you can purchase a similar item at local craft store, but I love the ones from Stampin’ Up because not only are they the perfect size for paper crafts (in the past I’ve purchased these types of eyes only to find that they are WAY too big for my card images,) but they are also self adhesive.  And if that’s not enough, they are super inexpensive at only $2.50 for a sheet of 50.  Wow!

    Happy Stampin!

    A Not-So-Scary Halloween

I love Halloween and I especially love cute images for Halloween, like cats & spiders.  I think it’s great we have the “googly eyes” as embellishments this year.  Those make even scary images cute!

    Time for Halloween!

I love Halloween.  I love the decorations and being able to dress up in fun costumes.  Yesterday I was happy to take down my normal wreath and replace it with my Spider wreath.  I also put out my cute Garfield Halloween flag.  I’ve been making Halloween cards for months, but I also participated in a Halloween swap while at convention.  I thought I’d share some of those with you to get you into the Halloween mood too!

I have some more to share, but I’ll save those for next time.  Enjoy your weekend!

** PS – There is ONE spot open for Tuesday’s card buffet.  If you haven’t signed up already, now is the time.  After all, you know you want to join us!**

    Happy Moon Festival

Since marrying into a Chinese family, I’ve learned much about Chinese culture and holiday traditions.  Each September we celebrate the Moon Festival.  It’s also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival or Lunar Festival.  It’s a time for families to get together, look at the full moon, and eat moon cakes.  My husband and I eat the moon cakes (actually we started eating them a couple of weeks ago! hehe) then we’ll go out and look at the moon.  I’ve read that some folks tell stories of Chinese mythology regarding the moon, but that’s not something my husband seems to do.  Basically it’s a time for family which reminds me a little of Thanksgiving.

As far as the moon cakes are concerned, I think they are an acquired taste.  This is the first year I’ve really enjoyed them.  In the past I remember gagging at the preserved egg yolk in the middle.  Well, actually I found an assortment this year that didn’t have the egg and that made me much happier.  lol

I found an assortment of mini-cakes this year that were made in California.  (Most of the moon cakes are imported from China.)  They came in this pretty box and with a matching gift bag.

Moon cakes aren’t very sweet, but they are rich and very heavy.  This assortment contained some with the traditional lotus paste, while others had red bean paste, nuts and pineapple, or dates.  I think I like the minis because of the variety.  Plus, as mentioned before, none of these had an egg yolk inside.  And, from my perspective, that’s a good thing.

I love how pretty they are.  I imagine that’s why they are expensive because it’s harder to mass produce.  Oh… and yes, I think they are kind of expensive.  I think this box was $16 and each cake was only about the size of a 1/2 dollar coin.  My husband and I have been cutting each in half and sharing them.  Today we’ll eat the last one (I have no idea what flavor it will be!) and then we’ll wait till next September to have some more.

    Enjoy the day!

    Coffee & Card Crafting

What do you get when you mix coffee, sweet treats, and cardmaking?  A bunch of silly & happy women!  I thought I’d share some of the photos I took last week of my customers showing off some coffee-themed card creations.

Margo with the card that holds a gift card.

Phyllis with a cute “perk up” card.

Peggy made a coffee-themed stationery kit.

Margaret’s card could be hot chocolate or coffee.  Plus, did you notice that even our coffee cups were covered in Stampin’ Up designer paper?  Fun, huh?

    Till next time, Happy Stampin’!
