Spring Surprise Bundle: 5 Ways in 5 Days (Day 1!)

I’ve been busy crafting.  I love it when I’m in the mood & don’t have to force creativity.  I do get “stamper’s block” from time to time, so I thought I should make the most of this surge of stampin’ energy.

I mentioned this Spring bundle a week or two ago and some of you have taken advantage of the savings of buying it now, rather than waiting for it to be full price in the new catalog.  Now here are some ideas to use with your new set!  (If you haven’t purchased it yet, be sure to check out the ideas I have for you this week, so you can decide you “need” it too!  lol  Keep in mind, however, that the promotional price is only valid until May.)

I thought I’d share one of my favorites with you first.  I used So Saffron, Island Indigo, & Tea for Two designer series paper.  I used “K is for Kindness” from the bundle and punched it out.  I flattened a bottle cap & filled it with a circle topped with the cute little scalloped image.  I finished it off with the “thanks so much” stamp in the One in a Million set.

Come back again this week to see the other 4 cards I designed specifically for the A Round Array stamp set & coordinating punch.

Happy Easter!

I received this beautiful Easter card from my mom.  She did such a beautiful job.  I love the simplicity of the whisper white and purple.  I also like the way she heat embossed the cross to really make it stand out.

I also received a beautiful card from my friend, Joyce.  I love this stamp set with the cherry blossoms & the little girl.  It retired last year (or was it the year before?,) but I still have it because it’s one of my favorites.  Anyway, this card is like a photograph complete with a background scene that looks realistic.

Consider these 2 cards as my message of Easter to you.  (Sorry, but I never managed to get my cards in the mail!  eeekkk!)

I hope you have a great Easter & embrace the message of hope this day brings!

**PS – Be sure to tune in next week as I try something new called “Five Ways in Five Days.”

Stampin’ Workshop

I recently got together with friends for a stampin’ workshop.  I don’t get to see this group of friends as much as I’d like, so I really enjoyed visiting and stamping with them.  We had a shoebox swap.  Everyone attending brought a sample card & all supplies to make the card in a shoebox.  We passed the shoeboxes around until we had made all the cards.  A couple of the cards were Stampin’ Up, others were not, but all were really great cards.  The card I took was one I used in my hostess club, so I won’t be re-posting that one.  Here are the others (in first name alphabetical order.)

We’re planning on meeting again, so I’m looking forward to seeing next month’s creations!

Hostess Club Projects

I’m sad that my monthly hostess club has now ended for this season.  It runs for seven months out of the year and then we take a break.  I will miss seeing the girls every month and getting together for stamping, but this meeting was particularly sad because one of the members is moving away.  (We’ll miss you, Marsha!)

This month I focused on watercolor techniques.  In addition to using ink from the inkpads, we also used watercolor crayons and pencils.

Fabric Frenzy!

Do you love to craft (or sew) with beautiful fabric?  If so, you’re going to love this week’s promotion from Stampin’ Up.  Fabric has been discounted 50%!  I don’t sew, but I do use fabric for crafting.  I cover the tops of the jars of my homemade apple butter and I think it makes the gift extra special.  I also made fabric flower pins for all my friends for Christmas.  I cut out my fabric with the Fun Flowers die, stacked the flowers together and glued a pin to the back.  To make the flowers have more dimension, I sprayed the flowers with a fabric stiffener and scrunched them.  I think they turned out cute & since I don’t sew, I was pretty impressed with myself for using fabric to make such pretty things.  I even made a fall wreath by just tearing strips of fabric and tying them onto a wreath shape.  It was a fun & easy project.   Here’s a video with some more idea for crafting with fabric:

**Note that all items are limited quantity.  Once that quantity sells out, the discounted price will no longer be available.**

Doggie Get Well

My friend, Karen, was out walking her dog when two other dogs attacked.  While Karen wasn’t hurt, her doggie, Lani, wasn’t as fortunate.  Since this is all too familiar after my dog’s attack last year, I decided to make a special doggie get well card.  I combined 3 stamp sets (Patterned Occasions, Oh Hello, and Animal Talk) and used the honeycomb embossing folder, oval framelits, and hearts a flutter framelits.  I don’t know if the card will make Lani feel better, but I think it will comfort Karen.

Sneak Peek

The new catalog won’t be arriving until June, but Stampin’ Up is giving us the opportunity to buy one item from the new catalog now.  The little 7/8” punch made it’s appearance in the Spring catalog (pg 16) & now it’s going to be in the big annual catalog.  There is a new stamp set to coordinate with this cute punch.  During the sneak peek, you can order the set as a bundle, or if you already have the punch, you can just order the stamp set.  I love that little scallop punch & I’m happy it’s going to be with us a while longer.

For the English sets:

The bundle including the punch and clear-mount stamp set is item 133899 and costs $23.95.

If you already own the punch, you can order just the A Round Array Stamp set is item 129090 and costs $14.95.

***Note:  I’ve made a correction to this post on Monday the 18th.  The 7/8 scallop circle punch is in the Spring catalog.  I originally thought it was the one in the Holiday catalog, but that one is 1 1/4”.  I almost messed up and didn’t order it because I thought I already had it.  doh!**

Hurry! Sale-a-Bration ends next week!

I love Sale-a-Bration and look forward to it every year.  I mean, who doesn’t love getting stamping supplies for free?  Unfortunately, however, it’s almost over!  There is only one week remaining for this year’s Sale-a-Bration.  If there are freebies on your wish list, be sure to place your order before March 22nd.  This is a great time to get the Petite Curly Label punch for FREE.  This item will be in the next big catalog.  Why pay $16 in June when you can get it for free now with a $50 order?  I’m hoping there will be also be a new stamp set to coordinate with this fun little punch.

I made this card with the Pretty Petites Stamp set (also available for Free during Sale-a-Bration) and the coordinating punch.

Have a happy stampin’ weekend!

New (err.. Repurposed) Ribbon Storage

It all started in the kitchen.  I have been organizing and changing things around to make my kitchen function more to my liking.  The spice rack on the counter just wasn’t doing the job.  I love the spice rack that came from the gourmet food store, Dean & Deluca.  However once I moved to the West Coast, getting Dean & Deluca spices wasn’t an easy or inexpensive task.  I decided to just refill the metal spice tins with grocery store spices and I’ve done that for 3 years.  But the tins were looking icky and the rack was taking up valuable real estate on my kitchen countertops.  I decided to change the system.

I bought spices from a local spice store and a spice tray for one of my kitchen drawers.  I think my spices will be happy in this drawer & I’m happy to get the counter space back.  Here’s the finished product:

That left me with the old spice rack I loved.  I took a chance and took it into my craft room.  I put a roll of ribbon on it and it fit!  I have a ton of ribbon and I’m always looking for new ribbon storage ideas.  I love how I repurposed my beloved spice rack into a convenient place to store my ribbon.  I think it’s going to be a good fit for my crafting since my old ribbon rack often looked shabby with the ribbon hanging down.

Hmm.. wonder what else I can repurpose?

New Flower Trim

Did you notice the new Flower Trim on page 5 of the Spring catalog?  Actually it’s easy to miss, but I think it’s a really pretty ribbon-type embellishment.  Here’s a way to use just a little of it on a card.  It would also be a pretty addition to a scrapbooking page.

Have a great weekend!

Tastefully Simple

I recently had a day of crafting with my friend, Diane.  She had a great idea for a card and we worked together to come up with this one.  She knew I’d love the brown color theme & she was right!  It’s a simple card with monochromatic colors, but I think it’s so elegant and tasteful.  I also loved dusting off my Blossom Petals Builder punch, which has been feeling neglected for many months up on my shelf.  Unfortunately I needed this as a sympathy card, but I think it would be a beautiful card for many other occasions too.

Happy Stampin!
