July News!

I won’t be at home until later tomorrow afternoon, so my normal Tuesday posting will be delayed.  Tomorrow, however, is a big day.  Here are some things you won’t want to miss:

1.  Blendabilities are Here!  I know you’ve been anxiously awaiting these alcohol markers and now you’ll have the opportunity to buy some of them.  (The remaining colors will be available at a later date, but this is a good collection to get you started!)  If these are on your wish list, I suggest you place your order first thing on Tuesday morning.  SO many people are waiting to purchase these and I suspect they will go on backorder before the day ends.

The following markers will be for sale:

  • Cherry Cobbler (item #130995)
  • Coastal Cabana (item #131000)
  • Daffodil Delight (item #130998)
  • Old Olive (item #130999)
  • Pumpkin Pie (item #130997)
  • Rich Razzleberry (item #131003)
  • Skin Tone Assortment (item #129370)

In addition, the following accessories will also be available. (Remember, don’t use your Staz-on with alcohol ink!  Get the Memento!)

  • Memento Ink Pad (item #132708)
  • Memento Ink Refill (item #133456)
  • Color Lifter (item #129369)

2.  Designer Series Paper Sale!  More info about this will be available tomorrow as far as which papers are included in the sale.  Check the SU website for that info!

Pretty Trellis Card

My friend, Pauline, showed me how to make this card.  I never would have thought about using 2 of the Chevron Border punches to make a trellis!  I love how it turned out and now I’m going to have to add that punch to my growing wish list of things I “need” from the new catalog.
Happy Stampin!
(I've listed the items I used to make the card below.  Not listed is the die I used to make the leaves - The Little Leaves Sizzlits - since it's retired now.)

A Paper Pumpkin Afternoon

Paper Pumpkin is a great program because it sends you a box of crafting items in the mail every month!  You can do the projects alone or you can get together with friends.  This month’s kit had a patriotic theme.

Pauline and Phyllis got started by curling the edges of the squares so that they would bend easily into the pinwheel form.

Anne got busy stamping the piece of paper to label the pinwheel.

I worked with Kathy to get the brad into the pre-punched holes in the corners of the square.

Success!  The pinwheels are done and ready for the 4th of July!

I don’t know what next month’s Paper Pumpkin kit will hold, but I can promise it will be a great opportunity to spend time crafting with your friends.

The New Paper Pumpkin

I decided to try the new (improved) Paper Pumpkin recently and I’m so glad I did!  In case you don’t know, Paper Pumpkin is a monthly creative kit from Stampin’ Up.  You can order it in 2 ways.  You can subscribe to it by clicking here and every month your credit card will be charged and you’ll receive a kit in your mailbox.  If you’re going to be out of town, you can always “skip” that month’s shipment as long as you make those changes before the 10th of the month.  You can also cancel the subscription at any time.  The 2nd way is to buy a prepaid kit when you place your regular order with me.  You’ll receive a link to set up your subscription with the prepaid code provided.  You have an option to add your credit card info, but if you skip that portion, you’ll only be charged for the kit you purchased and no more.  If you want to continue your subscription, you just purchase another pre-paid kit and add the code to your account before the 10th of the month.  This way you have no obligation to buy more kits.  Prepaid subscriptions are available in 1, 3 ,6, 9, or 12 month increments with a discount being given to any prepaid subscription of 6 months or longer.  The kit is always a surprise and neither you nor I will know what the kit will contain ahead of time.  That’s part of the fun!  Some months it contains greeting card projects and other months it has things for home d├ęcor and gifts.  The June kit was the later and contained supplies to make patriotic pinwheels.
The kit comes with photopolymer rubber stamps.  (And for your first month you also receive a small acrylic block.)
Look at all the supplies included in the June kit!  There were 24 straws, 20 treat bags, 24 brads, 24 clips, glue dots, precut banners, 24 precut DSP squares for the pinwheels, baker’s twine, and even a little Stampin’ Spot Inkpad.

There is a full-color photo of the projects, as well as a sheet showing step-by-step instructions.
I found the pinwheels easy to make.  They have holes in the some of the corners so you can quickly put them together with the big brad.  Then I used the glue dots on the open end of the brad and attached the paper straw.  The glue dots hold well to the metal, plus this will cover up the back of the brad!
I stamped, punched out the banner, and then attached it to the straw with glue dots.  I also tied on a little piece of the baker’s twine.  I think it turned out really cute!
I made a bunch of these in no time!  Then I cut down one of the pinwheel squares and decorated some treat bags so they would match the pinwheels.  Those little fat paperclips are adorable and looked nice with a bit of baker’s twine added.
Here’s what I ended up with when I was finished.  Grated, I still have more supplies so I can make a bunch more of the pinwheels or treat bags (or both.)  I love this kit and I think it was a really good value at $20 shipped.  I can’t wait to see what I get next month!

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2014 Ribbon Share.  All the shares are now sold!  Thank you for making this a successful sale.
Now that I’m finished measuring and cutting ribbon, I can get back to stamping!  I cannot seem to stop playing with new Flower Patch stamp set.  I love those big flowers and they make such an easy, yet pretty, card.
Have a Great Weekend!
