Something you may need! (Not sold by Stampin' Up!)

I've been preparing for my upcoming Cards & Coffee class and thought I'd share my favorite tip for using our new detailed dies.  Maybe you have one of these already?  Maybe it's been hidden in the back of your closet for the past few years!  If you don't have one, you might could find one used at a thrift store or buy one new at Amazon.  (My friend just bought from Amazon the cost was $15 less than Jo-Ann's since they would not allow coupons for the "machine.")

Are you Ready for Holiday Items Yet???


It’s hard to think about the holiday season with it SO hot outside, but it’ll be here before you know it.  I love to plan my Christmas cards early!  What about you?  This morning demonstrators got to see a sneak peek of the new Holiday Catalog that will be released in September.  All I can say is “Wow!”  I need to start saving my money to buy things because my wish list is SO long!  I’m fortunate, however, to be able to buy my Stampin’ stuff at a discount.  I also will have to opportunity to buy things from the new catalog starting next week!  I’m SO excited about that! 

It’s not too late to join me and sign up as a demonstrator.  You would get to participate in the pre-order next week and you’d get a discount on the things you buy.  It’s also a great opportunity to make some extra spending money to cover all those holiday gifts.  If you would like more information about joining, let me know and I’m happy to give you all the details.  Here are the questions I get most often:

1.  How much do I have to sell (or spend) to stay active?  The minimum sales requirement is $300/quarter.  Quarters are January-March, April-June, July-September, October-December.  You have until the end of the 1st full quarter to meet your first minimum, so by signing up in the 3rd quarter (ie- now,) you’d have until the end of December to meet your minimums. 

2.  Do I have to have parties or workshops?  No.  This is your business to run as you see fit.  I primarily sell products online, but I occasionally do classes.  Some primarily do local classes and events.  Others just get their friends together once a month for crafting. 

3.  Do I have to create my own website?  No, Stampin’ Up provides demonstrators with a website for a fee of $12.95/month so that the demonstrator can sell items online.  A website is not required, but I think it’s a good thing.  I recently had someone sign up as a demonstrator and in her first month, she sold more than $500 in products because someone found her via the web.  You can also set up your own blog (like me!) as an addition to the Stampin’ Up site. 

4.  If I sign up and hate it, is there a penalty to quit?  No.  If you stop ordering and do not meet the minimum sales requirements, you will be deactivated.  There is no penalty. 

5.  How much of a discount will I receive as a demonstrator?  The base commission is 20%.  That amount can increase based on sales volumes. 

6.  How much does it cost to sign up?  It costs $99 for the new consultant kit.  With the kit, you can customize the contents and get the items you want valued up to $125.  (You want to plan this ahead of the sign up process because you cannot go over the $125.  You want to get as close as possible and that takes some pre-planning!)

New Paper Trimmer Review: Stampin' Up, Rotatrim, Dahle

My quest for the perfect paper trimmer continues.  My husband got me a new one and I think it's going to work out better.  Here's my review comparing the Dahle 550 to the Rotatrim Pro M15.

Here are my findings:

Both trimmers can only cut about 3 sheets of Stampin' Up cardstock at a time (4 of the Whisper White, since it's lighter.)

Both take up a huge amount of space in my craftroom.

Neither can make small cuts (ie-like 1") unless you start with larger paper and just subtract off the measurement.

I was shocked at how easily the Rotatrim cuts the paper.  It's like butter!

I like the screw-in-place guide on the Rotatrim better than the sliding magnetic one on the Dahle.

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!


OK, so this is actually Minnie Mouse, not Mickey since she’s wearing a bow in her hair!  Disney World really is my happy place.  Given the opportunity, I’d live there!  Other than my family, Disney is the thing I miss the most about living in Florida.  It was so easy to hop into the car, drive to Orlando, and spend a 3-day weekend at the parks.  During the 22 years I was a Florida resident, I averaged a trip to see the Mouse at least once a month, if not more.  Now that I live 3,000 miles away, I feel very lucky if I get there once a year!  When I saw this card idea online (and I don’t even remember which demonstrator did it 1st,) I instantly smiled.  It makes me think of my happy place and that’s a good thing!

PS – My husband has been working on my computer and honestly, I cannot find things since he did the “upgrade.”  If I could, I would post a pretty section here showing what items I used to make this card.  Just know this was made with the Swirly Bird stamps.  I bet you could make something Disney themed with the dies too.  I will try that next!

Swirly Birthday

I’m still playing with the new Swirly Bird stamp set.  I love it!  It’s versatile, so I can use it for many different types of cards.  I’m in need of a birthday card for a friend this month, so this was just perfect.  It’s bright and cheerful and looks like a party on a card.
